We are Sophie and Lisandros, couple and cofounders of Meat And Greek. We have sold Greek Cypriot Souvlaki on the streetfood and festival scene of Wales for the last 5 years and are finally putting down some roots in our hometown of Barrybados!

We started the business after serving Lisandro’s traditional family recipe to my Welsh family on holiday 5 years ago. It went down an absolute storm and we decided to see if other people would love it too.

Within 6 months, with the support of our friends and family we had quit our day jobs and were cooking and serving souvlaki full time! What started as simply giving something a go has turned into our full time livelihood and passion. We are very proud to have built a great reputation and recognisable brand in Wales. Whilst we’ve had an amazing experience setting up our kitchen in a different location every week up and down the country the last few years, we couldn’t be happier to be making our permanent home in Barry at the Goodsheds.

We feel so incredibly lucky to be a part of the Goodsheds. It really is such a special development, and we are thrilled to be side by side with some of Wales’s most interesting and talented independent businesses.

It felt right that our first shop would be in our hometown and we are excited that we are able to  contribute to our local economy.

Well we are best known for serving our hearty no-nonsense Authentic Greek Cypriot Souvlaki.

So what’s souvlaki? Souvlaki translates literally to “little skewer”. Think toasted pitta pockets packed with succulent charcoaled chicken or pork, fresh salad, homemade tzatziki, houmous and grilled halloumi cheese, then garnished with chopped onion and parsley – delicious! And if meat’s not your thing, no problem! Swap it for halloumi and get stuck in.

Greeks don’t do anything by halves, especially food, and we’re proud of the fact that our portions are generous and our ingredients are wholesome. We use a combination of both British and Greek produce with traditional cooking methods to deliver the freshest and most authentic experience possible.

We cook over lump wood charcoal as it produces a unique flavour that cannot be replicated by any other cooking method. Nothing beats the sight and smell, whether you are at a festival or at our shop our kitchen is open to feast your eyes on!

We’ve got some new and exciting options exclusively for the Goodsheds. We are going to be shortly releasing our first ever Vegan option – a Chickenless Souvlaki! We are also bringing some tasty side dishes such as oregano and feta topped fries and everyone’s favourite – halloumi fries!
